An Australian Perfects Texas Barbecue in ‘Hardcore Carnivore’ Premiering September 23 on Outdoor Channel

OSG Email Signature_ALL LOGOS_2024

New Series Featuring Live Fire Cook and Professional Carnivore Jess Pryles Debuts During "Taste of the Wild" Monday Nights

DENVER (September 5, 2024) – Explore ways to hunt, butcher and cook all types of protein with Hardcore Carnivore, a new original series starring professional carnivore and chef Jess Pryles, premiering on Outdoor Channel on Monday, September 23 at 9:30 p.m. ET. Hardcore Carnivore is part of the network’s "Taste of the Wild" Monday night lineup.

Hardcore Carnivore, in partnership with Pendleton Whisky, dives deep into the world of meat—from commercial to small farm meat raising—and explores the best ways to hunt, butcher, and cook all types of protein. The show features hunting adventures, including a spectacular elk hunt in Idaho's Snake River area, as well as educational segments like deer captures with live nets in South Texas at the East Foundation.

An Epic Adventure

HCC 101 LAMB - 0811 ST02 00910-2

One of the standout episodes features an elk hunt in the Snake River area of Eastern Idaho. Pryles teams up with great friend and mentor Shaundi Campbell for an unforgettable adventure. Hunting the rim of an extinct volcano, Pryles has opportunities to push her own limits to bag an elk. With the pressure of a film crew and cameras rolling, the moment was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. “We also get into some hog hunting and dove hunting with my husband,” shared Pryles. “You really get to see a glimpse into my life. We don’t have a formula for the show; it is just as real and genuine as we can possibly be out there dishing what we are passionate about.”

A Blend of Fun and Education

The show aims to provide a genuine glimpse into Pryles’ life, blending humor, passion for grilling, and a love for the outdoors.

"I've always been fascinated by the science behind meat and the different ways it's raised. That’s one of the reasons I completed my Meat Science certificate from University of Iowa," said Pryles. “The Outdoor Channel has given us the incredible opportunity to share our adventures and stories with a broader audience. From the intense hunts to lighthearted moments, we hope to bring something unique and authentic to our viewers."

If the name “Hardcore Carnivore” rings a bell, it’s because Pryles also started a seasoning company of the same name about eight years ago. “The spices allowed us to say, ‘Here put this on your steak. This is what I think steak should taste like,” she shares. “We are in stores like Academy, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Faraway Meats and all across the world. When I first put the rub out, I crossed my fingers thinking that if my core customers who buy T-shirts will buy this rub it will be a fun experiment. Here we are with nine seasonings in the line and a full line of accessories that are all created by me based off things that I use in my kitchen.”

Jess Pryles is a Hardcore Carnivore and she's traveling the country, where she'll meet up with locals specializing in her favorite proteins. From dove hunting in Texas to harvesting Bison in Wisconsin and the delicious meals that she teaches us how to cook, it's an epic meat-eating adventure like no other. Follow her on Instagram @JessPryles and Hardcore Carnivore @HardcoreCarnivore.

Celebrating 30 Years of Outdoor Channel with Tom Nelson of ‘American Archer’

OSG Email Signature_ALL LOGOS_2024

DENVER (September 3, 2024) – The Outdoor Channel is celebrating its milestone 30th anniversary and the network reflects back on those decades with Tom Nelson, host of American Archer. Since its inception, American Archer has captivated audiences with its thrilling hunts, exotic locales, and in-depth storytelling, making it one of the most beloved shows on the network.

Evolution of Outdoor Programming

American Archer_2024_4x3_Title

Reflecting on the past 30 years, Tom Nelson notes the significant shifts in the television landscape, particularly within outdoor programming. “There is more competition for viewers than in the early days of outdoor TV,” says Nelson. “The younger generation has a shorter attention span and they typically want instant answers and entertainment without the wait. However, sportsmen and women over the age of 45 still enjoy and want to watch television. These are the viewers with the financial resources to purchase the items promoted and book trips with the outfitters featured on the shows they watch.”

Technological Advancements

Technological advancements have greatly impacted the production and consumption of outdoor shows. From drones and small POV (point-of-view) cameras to tapeless recording and improved battery technology, the tools available today have transformed the industry. “The early days of lugging 40-pound Beta cameras around in the woods and fields are now just an ugly memory,” Nelson laughs.

Milestones of American Archer

American Archer has surpassed many milestones since it first aired. “I remember telling my wife in the late '90s, 'wouldn't this be great if it lasted four or five years,' when we first started producing the series. We surpassed that, then the 10-year anniversary, then the 20, and on we march with our 28th season premiering this October on Outdoor Channel. I am still amazed,” Nelson shares.

Memorable Moments

Nelson looks back fondly on the friendships and lifetime of memories created through his involvement with American Archer and Outdoor Channel. “Each animal in my trophy room reminds me of a past adventure. Trips to exotic destinations such as the Arctic, New Zealand, Europe, and numerous trips to Africa all hold a special place in my mind,” he says. He recalls the physically and emotionally challenging hunts as some of his favorites.Being stranded in a remote camp, running out of food, equipment breaking down, and so on…these are memories that some may wish to forget but I cherish all of them.”

Collaborations and guest appearances have also left a lasting impact on him. “Working alongside and making friends with other TV personalities has been a great experience for me. Being a guest on numerous other TV shows and having other show hosts on 'The American Archer' has been wonderful.”

Lessons Learned

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Outdoor Channel is a significant milestone for Nelson and his team, both personally and professionally. “It seems like only yesterday that we started production on the show. We have sure learned a lot over three decades. Never give up, listen to your gut, try and educate as well as entertain. Time flies when you're having fun.”

Nelson concludes his thoughts recognizing the contributions of Outdoor Channel to the show’s success. “Nowhere else would we have built such a loyal audience needed to grow to become a successful show. Looking at the average life of any TV show, especially a bowhunting-only show, most don't survive more than a few years.”

Join Outdoor Channel in celebrating 30 years of excellence in outdoor programming. Follow along with Tom Nelson and crew of American Archer as they continue to share their adventures and tips for bowhunters around the world.
