DENVER (May 8, 2018) – On the heels of ratings success in 1Q, Sportsman Channel continues to experience ratings delivery success in the key demo Adults 25-54 during primetime and weekends with double-digit gains thus far in 2Q. The hunting and fishing lifestyle network has delivered increased ratings of +40 percent in primetime in the demo, as well as an increase of +20 percent in the same demo during weekend viewing compared to last year. Overall, the network also is up +4 percent during total day compared to one year ago.

Previously, Sevcik was Senior Vice President, Finance & Publishing Operations for Outdoor Sportsman Group. The announcement was made today by Outdoor Sportsman Group Publishing Chief Operating Officer, Michael Carney.

Sevcik will oversee the publishing operations of OSG’s 15 leading outdoor lifestyle multimedia brands, including Guns & Ammo, Fly Fisherman and Bowhunter.

“Derek has 15 years of direct publishing experience and has worked intimately with all of our brands for over a decade,” Carney said. “He brings a high-level of business and multimedia acumen to our group, and the necessary leadership skills required to manage our array of industry-leading branded media assets.”

DENVER (April 9, 2018) – Outdoor Sportsman Group’s Fly Fisherman magazine has named Ross Purnell as its new publisher. The announcement was made today by Outdoor Sportsman Group Publishing and Branded Media Chief Operating Officer, Michael Carney.

Purnell also will continue to function as the magazine’s editor, a role he’s filled since July 2008. He has been on the editorial staff of the magazine since July 1996.

“Ross has more than 30 years of history with Fly Fisherman,” Carney said. “He learned to fly fish from its pages, became a guide and a magazine advertiser, and has a broad range of publishing experience in the digital and multimedia world. His passion for the sport and his relationships in the industry make him uniquely suited to guide Fly Fisherman through its 50th anniversary celebrations and beyond.”

Purnell lives in Palmyra, Pennsylvania and works in the Outdoor Sportsman Group’s Harrisburg office. He has travelled the world with a fly rod and is also an avid rock and ice climber. If he’s not on top of a mountain, he’s down in the valley with a fly rod in his hand.

Game & Fish Magazine Presents ‘Readers’ Choice Awards’ at SHOT Show

KENNESAW, GA (January 23, 2018) — Readers of Game & Fish Magazine, America’s only national outdoor magazine with a focus on local hunting and fishing, chose 18 new products earlier this year as their favorites in the magazine’s sixth annual “Readers’ Choice Awards.”

Trophies honoring the outdoor manufacturers were presented at the Archery Trade Association Show and will be presented at the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show.

According to the results, nearly 60 percent of voters consider themselves an “expert” or “advanced” hunter. Two-thirds of all respondents hunted at least 13 days last year, and 1 in 10 hunted more than 120 days last year. The average was 38 days of hunting.

“It’s impressive that most of our readers consider themselves advanced or even expert,” Editor-in-Chief of Game & Fish Magazine, John Geiger said. “They are a great resource when it comes to what gear works in the field and what doesn’t.”

Game & Fish, a nationally-distributed magazine with hundreds of thousands of monthly subscribers and newsstand sales, compiled the votes of more than 2,400 avid hunters. Results are published annually in the magazine’s July-August gear issue.

“Deadliest Catch” Syndicated Premiere Landed on Outdoor Channel with 24-Hour Marathon on New Year’s Day

DENVER (January 3, 2018) – After the presents are opened, food devoured and thanks given, bring out the blankets and settle in for a new schedule of programming on Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network with original premieres and new episodes from returning series across all three networks beginning on Monday, January 1.

“As the new year dawns, we are excited to present new and exciting programming at Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network,” President and CEO of Outdoor Sportsman Group, Jim Liberatore said. “This new year will see Outdoor Channel expand its popular outdoor lifestyle programming with the addition of recently-acquired, first-run, syndicated cable television shows Deadliest Catch and Wicked Tuna to its lineup. Outdoor Channel has now become the exclusive, syndicated cable television home of Duck Dynasty, Deadliest Catch and Wicked Tuna.”

Deadliest Catch made its syndicated-cable premiere on Outdoor Channel with a 24-hour New Year’s Day marathon featuring episodes from the show’s first two seasons. Next, settle in for its regularly-scheduled timeslot on Monday, January 8 at 8 p.m. ET with the premiere of Season Three, followed by Season Four. Additional fishing programming coming to Outdoor Channel includes Major League Fishing on Saturdays at 2 p.m. ET and Major League Fishing’s All Angles on Saturdays at 4 p.m. ET. And the duck expansion continues with Duck Dynasty flocking to Monday through Fridays at 6–7 p.m. ET.

  • Deadliest Catch (Mondays, 8 p.m. ET): For more than 12 years, the fisherman of Deadliest Catch have faced hurricane force winds, heavy-machinery, massive icebergs and 40-foot waves in documenting their adventure-filled lifestyle and vocation. Narrated by Mike Rowe, this 16-time Emmy Award-winning series documents the mortal perils, injuries and intense discomfort that fishing crews overcome in the Bering Sea catching Alaska king crab.
  • Major League Fishing (Saturdays, 2 p.m. ET): Major League Fishing brings the high-intensity sport of competitive bass fishing into America's living rooms in the form of riveting two-hour TV episodes. Twenty-four world-class anglers are filmed over the course of a six-day event. The show captures their efforts as they utilize a demanding format that allows them to weigh all the "scorable bass" they catch.
  • Major League Fishing’s All Angles (Beginning February 17 – Saturdays, 4 p.m. ET): Major League Fishing’s All Angles tells the story of Major League Fishing from a new perspective. We’ve seen the game from the boat, now we bring it to you from the parking lots, boat ramps and anywhere inside the MLF footprint when the events roll into town.
  • Outdoor Movies weekend double feature – Get your jerky-flavored popcorn and settle in for a weekend double-feature with two nights of big Hollywood heroes delivered to your small screen. Big Country Fridays features western adventure-inspired films while Big Shot Saturdays has explosive action-adventure-themed films. Settle in to see City Slickers and City Slickers 2, Blazing Saddles and Cliffhanger, to name a few. Movies begin at 8 p.m. ET each night.

For other sportsmen and women, Sportsman Channel showcases hunting, shooting and fishing through unique and authentic storytelling. Favorites are back with new episodes including Dominant Bucks (Wednesdays, 9 p.m. ET) and Lake Commandos (Saturdays, 10 p.m. ET).   • Western Extreme (Mondays, 8 p.m. ET): Each week Jim Burnworth takes viewers all over the world as he hunts the world’s most challenging game animals.
  • Emerald Tails (Sundays, 5 p.m. ET): Follow Captain Todd Jones and Captain Nathan Chennai as they explore the pristine waters of the Emerald Coast. Each episode of Emerald Tails presented by Sun Harbor Marina will explore new gulf species and various tips and techniques.
