Something Smells Reel Fishy for Labor Day on World Fishing Network

Marathon Programming of Reel Fishy Jobs Airs Monday, September 5 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET

DENVER (August 31, 2016) World Fishing Network reeks of fish with a marathon of Reel Fishy Jobs on Labor Day, Monday, September 5 from 3-8 p.m. ET.

Show host, Mark Melnyk, is reeling viewers into the world of the most dirty, dangerous and daring fishing jobs around the globe. At the end of the 10 consecutive episodes, the audience will have experienced the best – and worst – fishing industry occupations.

Mark starts out the afternoon as a Marlin Mate, going toe-to-toe with white marlin in Ocean City, Maryland. He’s hooking marlin off the teaser to the long rigger like a pro. Then, Mark becomes employed as a veterinarian assistant in Chicago at the Shedd Aquarium, feeding sharks and cleaning house. Next up, Mark keeps busy by building artificial reefs and tagging native fish in Louisiana. Then it’s time to get his hands dirty as a chum manufacturer, grinding up rotten fish. Afterward, Mark is hired as a deckhand fishing for giant yellowfin tuna off the coast of Louisiana.

With great jobs comes great responsibility – working for the Texas Sharelunker program, Mark becomes responsible for the well-being and eventual breeding of giant bass. Then, Mark is hired to do one of the deadliest jobs on Earth – crab fishing in the north Atlantic Ocean.

No rest for the weary. Next, Mark fishes non-stop for three days trying to get his clients on giant Smallmouth Buffalo and Carp. Then, he heads for Florida to be a boat builder, constructing high-end skiffs for exclusive clients. Lastly, Mark works to bring limestone sinkers to consumers – literally, from the mines to delivery trucks.

How fitting that Mark performs all of this labor on Labor Day. When it comes down to it, viewers won’t be able to deny that Mark has some serious work ethic – whether it seems reel fishy or not.

Sportsman Channel Salutes the American Worker with a Marathon of “Brotherhood Outdoors” Airing Labor Day Weekend

Brotherhood Outdoors Labor Day “A Salute to the American Worker” Marathon – Presented by Wolverine Airs Saturday, September 3 from 5–8 p.m. ET

DENVER (August 31, 2016) Sportsman Channel and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) are combining efforts once again to honor the hard work and dedication of the American worker during Sportsman Channel’s Brotherhood Outdoors Labor Day Marathon presented by Wolverine on Saturday, September 3 from 5–8 p.m. ET.

The marathon will showcase six consecutive episodes with action-packed hunting and fishing opportunities across the states hosted by Daniel Lee Martin and Julie McQueen. From hunting mule deer in Montana, to chasing turkey in South Dakota, to prowling for Florida gators and more, Daniel Lee and Julie guide hard-working men and women who share a passion for outdoor adventures.

“The Brotherhood Outdoors marathon on Sportsman Channel emphasizes the huge appetite many hard-working Americans have for hunting and fishing,” said Mitch Petrie, Vice President of Programming for Outdoor Sportsman Group. “More than that, the outdoor lifestyle encompasses a strong sense of family-life and traditions, which is also integral in the American way.”

Through giving a glimpse into guests’ family and work lives, viewers will sense the relatability to the “everyman” this marathon has to offer.

Brotherhood Outdoors is a testament to those who make our American way of life as spectacular as it is today,” said USA Deputy Director, Mike d’Oliveira. “We are excited to once again partner with Sportsman Channel to showcase men and women with unique trades skills and their passion for the great outdoors.”

The following is the marathon schedule for September 3 programming (all times listed ET):

5 p.m.   Keith Gilmer sees 100 deer the first day of his dream hunt, but he decides to wait patiently for a big Montana muley to appear from amidst the abundant whitetails and give him the perfect shot.

5:30 p.m.   Mark Kezler feels the vibration as toms come drumming, spitting and gobbling within 100 yards. Yet the wise old South Dakota Merriam’s turkeys dodge the plan again and again as hosts Daniel Lee and Julie try to lure them within Mark’s range.

6:00 p.m.   Jason Gaal, armed with a flashlight to spot glistening eyes, prowls for Florida gators. Suspense runs high with the big, toothy lizards as host Daniel Lee ends up in the murky, gator-infested waters.

6:30 p.m.   Aaron Heying overcomes paralysis on this New Mexico bear hunt with help from his wife as hosts Daniel Lee and Julie and their guide carry Aaron, his wheelchair and equipment through the woods to get in range of his first bear.

7:00 p.m.   Mike Cramer wards off unusually warm temps with dancing and one-armed push-ups as he waits for his shot at a Colorado bull elk once the snow finally begins to fall.

7:30 p.m.   Derek Carrington heads to Kansas to hunt in one of the best trophy-producing units in the state, and it all comes down to the wire on this heart-pumping whitetail adventure.
