Sportsman Channel will air Buck Knives: Edge of a Legend on February 19 at 10 p.m. ET and February 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
A unique documentary, Edge of a Legend showcases the American dream, through the eyes of those who use the knives and the legendary family that stands behind them. From its humble beginnings, to its status as an American icon of the outdoor lifestyle, Buck Knives has stood the test of time. Viewers will see exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the manufacturing floor including interviews with current CEO C.J. Buck, his dad Chuck Buck and more.
“Edge of a Legend was one of Sportsman Channel’s most popular documentaries aired in 2014 with many viewers requesting encore airings,” said Graig Hale, vice president of business development of Sportsman Channel. “It is with heavy hearts we re-air the special to honor a man we all view as legendary in his own right. I, along with many hunters, cherish our Buck Knives’ Model 110 folding knife and will undoubtedly share the legacy with future generations. The entire Sportsman Channel family wishes the Buck family our deepest condolences on the passing of Chuck Buck.”
Chairman of Buck Knives, Inc., Chuck personified the warm family tradition of the American knifemaking company he headed. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1961, Chuck learned the ins and outs of the knife business and was there when Buck Knives, Inc. emerged. Within a few years, Chuck was named corporate vice president for manufacturing. In June 1979, Chuck became president of Buck Knives at age 43. He was later inducted into the Blade Cutlery Hall of Fame in 1996. Chuck was an outstanding business leader and was influential in Buck Knives’ considerable growth. Chuck handed over the business to his son, CJ, in 1999 but remained active as Chairman of the Board.
Chuck was such a friendly, gregarious gentleman that people meeting him for the first time went away feeling they had been friends for years. He loved to travel all over America with his wife of 56 years, Lori, visiting with customers in stores to hear what knife users liked and what they wanted. He met countless people and signed countless knives in his travels, creating fond memories with people who use Buck products.
