DENVER (February 13, 2023) – Food from wild animals can be sometimes strange, sometimes scary, but not inedible if properly prepped and cooked. This is what viewers will learn on the Season 6 premiere of Dead Meat with host Scott Leysath, airing Monday nights at 9:30 p.m. on Outdoor Channel.
For many hunters and gatherers, the adage – “If it is worth killing, it is worth eating” is a life-long value, and a saying that some might shudder at when considering dining on some of the “less-desirable” parts. Not long-time chef, hunter and TV host Scott Leysath. Now entering its sixth season, Dead Meat promises even more edgy, outrageous and maybe scary moments.
This season, Leysath teams up with veterans to bowfish for invasive snakeheads in Maryland, and hunts sandhill cranes in Saskatchewan. Also, Leysath tries skunk for the first time. “The skunk was brined for two days, boiled and then fried, so it wasn’t bad. Some people went back for seconds. Although, some parts of the meat did smell like skunk and we have a rule, if it smells like skunk, don’t eat it.”
Listen to Leysath share what is on the table this season on Dead Meat on “The Revolution with Jim and Trav.”
Watch Dead Meat on Outdoor Channel Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET.
