Outdoor Channel Acquires Cable Syndication Rights From Twentieth Television to National Geographic Channel’s Hit Show ‘Wicked Tuna’

DENVER (June 22, 2017) – While most of the fishing on National Geographic Channel’s Wicked Tuna takes place in the North Atlantic Ocean, fans of the show will have a new place to view their favorite captains in action as Outdoor Channel is the new syndicated cable home of the popular original series. Announced today by Jim Liberatore, President and CEO of Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks, Outdoor Channel has acquired the exclusive cable syndication rights from Twentieth Television to air the first seven seasons – including 95 episodes – of Wicked Tuna.

“Acquiring the cable syndicated rights to air Wicked Tuna on Outdoor Channel continues to solidify the network as the destination for viewers that crave outdoor lifestyle adventure,” said Liberatore. “The stories on Wicked Tuna, an incredible series that truly encompasses the thrill of the outdoors, will no doubt have our viewers on the edge of their seats each week.”

Filmed on location in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Wicked Tuna gives viewers an in-depth look at the intense battles, fierce competition, crushing losses and major paydays of some of the country’s toughest captains. The series follows a group of salty fishermen as they make their living the way it’s been done for centuries – with rod and reel fishing, one catch at a time – all in pursuit of bluefin tuna. One bluefin can be worth more than $20,000 and, with that kind of money on the line, every captain is fighting to be the best in the fleet. Wicked Tuna is produced for National Geographic by Pilgrim Media Group.
