Outdoor Sportsman Group Wants You! Seeking the Best Amateur Shooters; American Marksman Registration Now Open
January 19, 2016Three-Phase Shooting Competition Will Be Filmed for National Television Show
DENVER (January 19, 2016) – The search has begun for the best amateur shooter in the United States with the opening of registration for American Marksman – a new concept television show and target shooting competition by Outdoor Sportsman Group. American Marksman will give amateur shooters the chance to take part in a nationwide competition and earn their way to a national championship for cash, gear and fame. The competition will begin with local qualifiers starting in March 2016 at various locations across the country.
Registration is now open at AMMarksman.Com. Potential competitors also can register in person by stopping by the American Marksman booth at the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show on January 19-22 at booth L218 located on the lobby level.
American Marksman will keep the cameras rolling throughout three phases: local qualifiers, regional championships and a national championship with the entire process airing exclusively on Outdoor Sportsman Group networks beginning in December 2016.
“If you ever wanted to enter a shooting competition and thought it was too intimidating or too expensive – then this is your chance to show the world what you’ve got,” said producer Michael Bane, Outdoor Channel. “For only $20 at the local level, you get the chance to try to qualify with other amateurs in a relaxed, safe environment and the best of you will meet in a ridiculously cool national championship with TV cameras rolling. The person who earns the title of ‘American Marksman’ walks away with $50,000…so why wouldn’t you register?”
The local qualifying rounds begin in March at nearly 200 ranges in 47 states. Visit http://AMMarksman.Com for the full schedule. The categories of competition include: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Junior (12-16) and Military/Law Enforcement, with the ultimate winner coming from any of those categories. Each round will feature .22 caliber rim fire courses of fire and as the competitor’s progress, they will be challenged with different calibers, targets and courses of fire. Advancing shooters will go to one of nine regional championships, which begin in June and proceed through August with the National Championship taking place in early 2017.
“The local qualifying level is designed not only to appeal to more seasoned shooters, but also to attract new people into the shooting sports by offering a low-cost and less intimidating way to get involved in competition,” continued Bane.
The nine regional championships will be revealed as locations are finalized. Visit American Marksman on Facebook for regular updates.
